The basic idea of reading tablature is as follows
-
There are 6 lines, one for each string on the guitar
-
The bottom line represents the 6th string and the top line represents the 1st string
-
The numbers tell you what fret to put your finger on (1=1st fret, 0=open string etc.)

General standard notation symbol still apply in tablature, so
be sure to look over the standard
notation primer
There are many other specific symbols used in tablature, which
will be introduced as needed. Here is an explanation of tablature
found on the Internet.
